In
contrast to other religious, in fasting, there is no movement or a any specific word to do. The substance of fasting is to
abstain. Practicalally
enough to refrain from eating, drinking and sexual intercourse within the
period specified, fasting in principle (rule) has been done. But its substance is not as simple as
practice, even God sees
fasting as something exclusive, "that the fasting is for
me, and I will establish with it’s My own
reward." This is because the distinctive characters of fasting that if you
have to get valued, goodness only known by God and the person. In principle, it is
God who knows what purpose it fast.
On the
other side Muhammad said about the results (evaluation) fasting, "Many of
the people who fasted did not get anything (good) from it except hungry and
thirsty." It can be concluded, that the person does not get any of the
good pleasure of his fast apart except thinks near thirsty and hungry.
Allah
says, "For the fasting, there are two pleasures, when he breaking and when
he met Me, he was pleased with the
reward I gave him." It is not unlikely that someone got in his fast only
in the pleasurable feeling when breaking but not the other. Another affirmation
comes from the Prophet, "Whoever does not abandon false words or any sins, then there is no need for God to
(reward) above (what it does) left the eating and drinking."
Eating-drinking
is something that is halal, in
the sense of the fasting person can leave even though it is halal. Eating and drinking is the daily things that humans can easily feel pleasure
from it and it felt great lust, as well as much pleasure in the sexual
activity. Ar-Razi said, when someone is able to subdue an enormous desire then
he has gained the ability to keep out (takwa) is greater. The things
that are not halal (forbidden), instinctively men refuse to do so and if
done it related to the presence of compulsion. And on the other side, if in
itself there is a huge desire to carry out such actions indeed he has had a
stronger defense.
But
the phenomenon that occurs is not a few people who are able to refrain from any
halal things (with fasting) but still took something not halal.
It is very closely linked to the substance of fasting that is not on the
fasting person. Though true fasting was enjoined that can then be formed with
private (more) taqwa/pieties (Al-Baqara/2: 183).
If we notice
the revelations about fasting (Al-Baqara/2: 183-187), and after its mentioned
in revelation 188, there is a prohibition to practice wrong in terms of
economic relations and to use the access of power to the benefits (corruption).
"And do not consume one another's wealth unjustly or send it [in bribery]
to the rulers in order that [they might aid] you [to] consume a portion of the
wealth of the people in sin, while you know [it is unlawful]." (Al-Baqara/2:
188).
The
conclusion is, if someone could not refrain from any sins and cheats’, whether
it's after fasting and especially in the middle of fasting itself, the truth is
that he is not fasting. And he got nothing but hunger and thirst, the thirst
and hunger if associated with affluent person is not less than greed that would
torments him.
Na'udzubillah ..
